SEMINAR
DESCRIPTION
Do you ever feel like you are up to your neck in alligators? Have you noticed that problems come in bunches like bananas? In clusters like grapes? Job certainly did. He was up to his neck in monstrous problems. Obviously the book of Job is a book that deals with the issue of human suffering -- particularly the question, "Why do bad things happen to good people?" But is that all? Are there some deeper issues? What did God do for Job? What didn't God do for Job? What is really the core issue of the book of Job? Why did God call Job's attention to real monsters in the concluding chapters of the book? Is it possible that those real monsters were dinosaurs and that they were still alive and contemporary with Job (about 2000 B.C.)? What effect did these monsters have on Job's attitude and perspective? Why not come, bring a friend, and find out?
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Rick Deighton was born in
Longmont, Colorado. In 1956 he accepted Jesus as His Lord and Savior followed
by baptism. Rick and his wife Della have been married 40 years and reside in
Nampa, Idaho. They have two grown children and four grandchildren.
Rick attended Boise Bible
College where he graduated with a BA degree followed by a year of graduate
study at Ozark Christian College with a special emphasis on Missions training.
Rick is an evangelist with White Fields Overseas Evangelism. His personal
ministry "Overseas Outreach" focuses on teaching Christian evidences
to youth, church planting, creation evangelism, and teaching conversational
English within the former Soviet Union nations. As part of his ministry, Rick
uses a series of Creation Evangelism messages in his outreach meetings and new
church planting. One such message is "Creation or Evolution: What
Difference Does It Make What We Believe?" These messages are eye openers
to people indoctrinated with evolution and atheism. Rick has authored and
published articles, booklets and tracts in English, German, Korean and Russian.
His primary desire is to share God’s Word through training others both in the
classroom and through opportunities for people to travel with him on short-term
mission trips.
