NOTE: Mt. Saint Helens has been in the news again due to recent earthquake
activity going on beneath the mountain.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Jerry Jaeger grew up on a farm near Cambridge, Idaho and also attended the
public school there. He had a tremendous appetite for knowledge and studied all
of the science and math courses offered. He also persuaded a science teacher to
teach him some advanced courses on the side. Jerry chose a liberal arts college
that offered a strong physics department, but it wasn't long before he realized
that although you can take the boy off the farm, you can't always take the farm
out of the boy. Jerry transferred to the University of Idaho and earned a BS in
Agriculture in 1962. Between his Sophomore and Junior years in college he
married Carol. Upon graduation he and Carol returned to the farm where Jerry
had grown up and they began operating a dairy.
At the age of 28, Jerry trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, however the
evolutionary teaching that permeated his education, made it difficult for him to
trust the Bible entirely. This problem was solved shortly after Jerry started
reading some Creation Science books and articles. He learned that the
historical evidence found in all creation is better explained by a Biblical
Creation worldview rather than by an evolutionary worldview. Jerry continued
reading a great deal of creation science literature, which provided compelling
evidence that the Bible (God's revelation to man) and His creation are in
complete harmony. Real Truth is found only in God's Word and the real truth
about the cosmos can be discovered only by examining it from a Biblical
worldview. That is why the creation message is so important!!
Jerry and Carol no longer operate a dairy, but they continue to live and work on
the farm near Cambridge where he was brought up as a boy. They have raised five
children who have trusted Christ as their Savior. On September 3, 2001, Jerry
and Carol celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary! Jerry is active at the
Cambridge Bible Church as an Elder, adult Sunday School teacher and he helps
with the AWANA children's program and the annual Rodeo Bible Camp. He is on the
Board of Shiloh Bible Camp and is a member of Gideon's International. Jerry also
serves on the Board of Directors for Foundations In Genesis of Idaho-Oregon.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
The Mt. Saint Helens eruption is probably the most significant geologic event
that has happened in our lifetime. It was a catastrophe that produced, in a very
short period of time, a great deal of geologic evidence that had previously been
interpreted as requiring long periods of time to accomplish. In fact, as a
result of the evidence from Mt. Saint Helens, much of the so-called proof of the
old earth uniformitarian dogma was literally "blown away"!
Dr. Steve Austin of Answers In Genesis ministry has put together an excellent
group of photographic slides about the volcano's eruption and its aftermath.
Jerry will present these slides and also share some related research
accomplished during the years since the eruption. We believe that this
presentation will strengthen your ability to defend the Biblical position that .
