Lake Missoula Flood
Eastern Washington Scablands
Field Adventure
August 2 to 6, 2007

Imagine a raging flood so powerful that towering waves studded with glacial icebergs scoured numerous, steep-sided channels, called Coulee’s, deposited giant gravel/boulder bars, formed large current ripple marks, deposited erratics, and carved high water falls (now dry) throughout eastern Washington; whatever is an erratic?  Post-Flood Glacial Lake Missoula, in western Montana, was the source of this high energy water.  The water erosion evidences from the catastrophic Lake Missoula Flood is an analogue for evidences of the World-wide, Biblical Flood described in the Book of Genesis.  Participants in this Field Adventure will stay in the Grand Coulee, Washington area in outdoor camping facilities or motel lodging with day trips via car, and some associated hiking to spectacular vistas.  One interesting side excursion will be a guided tour of Grand Coulee Dam on the Columbia River, one of the largest hydroelectric/water storage structures in the United States.
