Valley Idaho Field Adventure

(revised June 4, 2007)
This one day Adventure will emphasize the “Genesis of the Treasure Valley” in western Idaho. After all, most of us live in this area, and should know what the bounds of the Treasure Valley are and how it was formed. Why is the Boise River were it is, where is the evidence of Lake Idaho, why the prominent stair-stepped terraces along the south edge of Boise, how did Table Rock form, etc? God’s fingerprints are well exposed in the Treasure Valley.
Participants for the Treasure Valley Field Adventure will meet at Boise Diversion Dam located adjacent to Highway 21 just ˝ mile east of where the new high-level bridge for Highway 21 crosses the Boise River. Proceeding eastward on Highway 21, toward Idaho City, the Boise Diversion Dam is on the right side (south) of the highway. A large parking lot is situated on the left side of the highway, opposite the diversion dam. We will meet in the parking lot at 8:00 am. The route for the field trip will be westward with stops for observation and short hikes. Car pooling will be the mode of transportation. Remember to bring a sack lunch, lots of water, and hand-held walkie-talkies. Early summer weather is unpredictable, so be prepared for cool or hot conditions with appropriate clothing. We will be doing some short hikes in the Table Rock area so good walking footwear is recommended. This excursion will end between 4:00 to 5:00 pm at a yet to be determined location west of Boise.
Field trips are for the purpose of spending time in the out-of-doors to explore, experience, and study the numerous recent evidences of God’s creation that are in bold testimony of His loving truth and judgment. FIGI Field Adventures are family friendly, affordable and unforgettable.
