SALMON RIVER IDAHO ADVENTURE

MAY 5 – 7, 2006

(Updated Version, 4/18/06)

Field trips are for the purpose of spending time in the out-of-doors to explore, find interesting rocks and study the many recent evidences of God’s creation, which are in bold testimony of His loving truth and judgment.  The first field adventure for 2006 will be in the Salmon River Country of Riggins, Idaho.  Springtime in the Salmon River canyons is great for fun explorations; air temperatures will be warm, hillsides will be carpeted with multi-colored flowers, and wildlife will abound.

TRIP EMPHASIS: Evidences for a recent creation are everywhere in the Salmon River country.  Metamorphic rocks, from the time of creation, are prominent, along with very steep-sided canyons formed from catastrophic Flood erosion, and post-Flood glacial erosion and deposition in the uplands.  Along with the “strange” metamorphic rocks, volcanic rocks and sedimentary rocks are well exposed.  Interesting minerals specimens can be collected.  Panning for gold will be exciting.  Checking out dark, limestone caves for odd-looking stalactites and stalagmites. Participants will be able to even find marine fossils in the Martin Bridge Limestone.  Native Americans inhabited these canyons in the past.  We will discuss the various tribes that are thought to have lived here and the origin of these peoples.

TRIP DETAILS: Participants will be staying at Prospector’s Gold RV Park and Campground, located 8 miles north of Riggins, Mile Post 204 on U.S. Highway 95, in the town of Lucile, ID.  Lucile is a small, quaint town that was established in the early days of gold mining in the area. The Park has plenty of lawn area for tents and for recreational vehicles. Even the tent sites have electric and water outlets.  Rest rooms with showers are centrally located.  These facilities are situated immediately adjacent to the beautiful, Salmon River.

Come prepared to enjoy the wonders of Creation and the Flood that God made especially for us to view, enjoy, study and guide us to better understand the manifold witness of His Grace.
