FIELD ADVENTURE

SOUTHWEST CANYON LANDS

JUNE 14 TO 22, 2008

Information & Registration

All spaces have been filled but you may put your name on the waiting list.

Seeing the unseen through the seen (Romans 1:20) characterizes the southwest canyon lands with Grand Canyon, Zion Canyon and Bryce Canyon National Parks.  These areas show all the evidences of a recent creation together with more recent marks of a world-wide catastrophic Flood.  Field Adventure participants will see vertical walled canyons, slot canyons, deep canyons, colorful canyons, massive three-dimensional exposures of water-laid sedimentary rocks, hoodoos, arches, faults, intricate cross-bedded sandstone, volcanic flows, liquefaction plumes, and many more awesome / spellbinding wonders.

Other interesting sights to observe and study include debris slides, fossils, petrified trees, graded bedding, and much more.  Extensive guidebook will be provided to all registrants.  Some short hikes will be involved, in order to view sites in close-up perspective.  Buses will be the mode of transportation, with camping in both National Park and private facilities.

TRIP DETAILS

TRAVEL and FOOD PROVISIONS

Two buses will leave Boise on Saturday, June 14 and return on Sunday, June 22, 2008.  A Caterer on wheels will be traveling with us to provide three meals per day.

TRANSPORTATION

The two buses we will be utilizing are large capacity with each bus able to seat a total of 48 people, and thus, two buses will accommodate 96 people.  There will be plenty of room for family, soft luggage and camping gear.

CAMPING CONSIDERATION

Most participants will be staying in group camp sites, using tents.  All of the camping facilities have restrooms with showers, tables, scattered fire pits and pool.  Motel facilities are located adjacent to all of the campgrounds for ones desiring indoor lodging.  For those interested, we will supply phone numbers for contacting the lodging facilities for reservations.  Note: For those who desire indoor lodging:  Due to very high summer use, motel reservations should be made by the registered participants right now.

COSTS

Total costs for adults and kids nine and older will be $350 to $400 per person for the nine day Field Adventure.  Kids eight and younger will be about $150 to $200 per child.  The spread in price at this time is because of variance in unknown camping fees, unknown National Park entrance fees, and coordination costs for organization of this Field Adventure. Two of the campgrounds have no charge for kids under three years of age at this time.  Some of the camping facilities are planning on increasing costs, but we will not know details until after January 1, 2008.  The total costs per person shown above include bus transportation, meals, entrance fees to the Parks (if needed), camping facilities, and the Field Adventure Guidebook.

We are applying for educational exemption from entrance fees from the three National Parks.  We believe FIGI/O will qualify, but do uphold that request in your prayers.

Normally, buses are charged a minimum, depending on number of passengers, of about $160 to $180 per bus per Park.
