Foundations In Genesis of Idaho
REVIEWS: By the People, For the People
What do people experience at a Foundations In Genesis of Idaho (FIGI) seminar? Well, the best answer to that question is found in the people who attended FIGI’s most recent seminar, “Biological Evidences That Defy Evolution”, presented by Creationist & Science teacher of 42 years, Winston Tilzey. From the Treasure Valley and beyond, seminar attendee’s both adults and children share their delightful and unique reviews.
“At January's meeting, the children were presented with several amazing animals, which included: Video excerpts introducing & describing each animal and a hands-on activity emphasizing the incredible features of each animal. One of the activities was ‘feet-on’, as the children did their best to hold, peel & eat bananas with their feet! Bubble-wrap turbans emphasized the incredible shock-absorbing features of the common woodpecker & all were impressed with the Antarctic Emperor Penguin skit. You should have seen them all strut about the room! The teacher really got everyone's attention with the snack table. One snack was created "without intelligence" and the other snack was created "with intelligence." Everyone was instructed to choose one type of snack or the other. Overheard between two boys at the snack table: "Want to try the evolved snack?!" Pause. "Naw, I think the cookie looks better." The children were eager for their parents to see the unappetizing evolved snack that came to exist without intelligence! The FIGI Library offers DVDs, videos, and books for children and adults on topics ranging from the origins of the universe, to tracking reports of dinosaurs existing on earth today. There are some really good resources here! My kids snatched up a video and a couple of books about dinosaurs. All this for no admission fee! What a blessing!”
“The presentations are personal and the speaker talks about aspects of science that you can’t get in the textbooks. The topics vary & offer variety. All their speakers are seasoned in their fields of expertise, know what they’re talking about and bring it down to a friendly level of understanding. Our children attend the Children’s Program and afterwards, we talk as a family about all the interesting things. We are all on the same page. As an adult, I have attended a some of the children’s programs and have gotten a lot out of the ‘hands on’ approach.”
“This seminar was a good reminder of some of the basic questions that evolutionists have left unanswered in our understanding of nature. Our 3 children attended the Children’s Program, learned about how the Emperor Penguin cares for the young before and after it hatches and enjoyed mimicking the caring for the egg.”
“FIGI has stayed on course with Creation and I appreciate that. Occasionally there is some repetitive information but it always is accompanied with a new & different perspective. FIGI also gives my children a great opportunity to see that what we as parents are teaching at home is being taught and believed by others of like mind. My children enjoy the Children’s Program & get excited about the field trips. For us, FIGI is a part of our family routine.”
“I gleaned much scientific information reinforcing my beliefs in Divine Creation. Along with the delightful examples of fascinating creatures on our planet that defy faulty dogma found in the evolution theory, I am now armed with definitions and a better understanding concerning "Natural Selection and "mutations" and am better prepared to dialogue with those who have closed their minds or those questioning Creation as our origin. Attending your meetings and enjoying your speakers is always very profitable to me and always strengthens my faith. Thank you for standing firm in Biblical Truth!”
“I really appreciated the speaker, who has spent a good deal of his life teaching science in public and private schools and gave us an excellent inventory of the current state of the debate between Evolutionary and Creation Cosmologies and evidences in support of each. The more I learn about the intricacies of even the most "primitive" cell structures, the more I marvel at the wonderful deliberate creation of God and the more I marvel at how an Evolutionist could begin to believe in such things occurring by chance. Mr. Tilzey's Degree in Biology with a Master's Degree in Chemistry and Physics certainly belies any criticism that we are ignorant followers of religious myth. In fact, Winston Tilzey and all of the speakers at these seminars are doing their best to: "Be ready always to give a reason why you believe." (1Peter 3:15)
Our field trip with FIGI last summer to Steens Mountain to study Geology was certainly an eye opener. FIGI has revealed to me that when one trusts God's Word to be true, then all the facts at hand in the present can certainly fit in to the framework of God's Creation without presupposing any "great expanses" of time or assuming any death before Adam's sin in the Garden of Eden.
In fact, these Seminars cement and build your faith in the truth of God's Word because one can see that the book of Genesis is not just "a vain fable" as is mentioned in 2Peter 1:16 but is a historically reliable document preserved for us by God down through the ages. I look forward to the encouragement and fellowship of like-minded believers at the wonderful line up of seminars and field trips coming up in 2006. Many thanks to Winston Tilzey for his talk and to you for your organizational efforts in making that talk possible.”
